WILD Paintings and Sculpture by Kirsty Wilson
May 9th-30th 2013 – Reception Friday May 24th 2013 7:30pm
Kirsty Wilson’s eclectic new show WILD at Graven Feather represents a progressive development in her body of work. Originating from her experience in ceramics, Wilson’s fascination with the world organic is clearly evident both in the whimsically weird and delicately grotesque sculptures she presents, as well as her more recent explorations in graphic large-scale drawings on canvas and the back wall of the gallery.
"I like to challenge traditional perceptions by illuminating unexpected beauty that is often overlooked in unassuming and often repugnant aspects of nature" says Wilson. Certainly her use of animate forms and projections are successful in drawing the viewer in for a closer contemplation of the unusual.
Currently based in Collingwood, ON, Wilson received her BA from the University of Toledo, and completed her graduate studies in Ceramics at the Dundas Valley School of Art. Please join us at Graven Feather on Friday May 24th for a reception to celebrate this intriguing and beautiful collection of work 7:30-9:30 pm.
