Acclaimed Canadian artist Kent Monkman discusses his largest and most ambitious diorama installation to date. The Big Four is the result of Monkman’s visit to the 100th year anniversary of the Calgary Stampede in 2012 and his interactions with Glenbow’s collections. His newest work draws on archival documents, historical images, film footage, Blackfoot artifacts and historical artifacts documenting the history of the Calgary Stampede, the rodeo and the Indian Village.
