Line up includes artists and galleries from US and Canada

New York, NY–– echo Art Fair,, Buffalo’s juried contemporary art fair, released today the list of exhibitors for the 2013 juried fine art fair, which will take place on September 7th& 8th in a 25,000 square foot space in Buffalo’s Central Library, located in the heart of downtown.

Selected exhibitors hail from Buffalo, Rochester, Ithaca and other upstate NY cities, as well as New York City, Washington (DC), and Toronto. 75% of those exhibited come from the Western New York region. Applicants for the fair came from an increasingly-diverse geographic footprint: New Haven, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Calgary, and Paris.

More than 100 submissions were received, from which 29 individual artists, 13 galleries and 12 site-specific installations were accepted. New this year, a cash prize, donated by an anonymous contributor, will be awarded to an exhibitor selected by the jury.

“In addition to several returning artists, this year’s fair saw a 43% increase in the number of new submissions,”said E. Frits Abell, echo Art Fair founder. “The quality of the submissions was very high and the selection process was highly competitive. We are particularly pleased that several of the site-specific installations directly respond to the Library setting, incorporating books or reading themes into the creation of the works.”

Twelve temporary site-specific installations of various media will be situated in and around the Library, created by artists from New York City, Western and Central New York, and Canada. John Massier, Visual Arts Curator of Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center, coordinated the selection of the site-specific submissions, and assembled a team of local arts leaders—from the Burchfield Penney Art Center, Albright Knox Art Gallery, University at Buffalo Art Galleries, and Buffalo Arts Studio—to evaluate proposals and select this year’s installations.
