AVALANCHE! INSTITUTE OF CONTEMPORARY ART TO RE-OPEN FOLLOWING RELOCATION AFTER FLOOD
Calgary, AB – AVALANCHE! Institute of Contemporary Art is pleased to announce that our gallery and studios will re-open to the public on August 16th, 2013 at 8PM, in our new location at 343 11th Avenue SW (BSMT). We are proud to present a reconfiguration of White Heat, the final exhibition in our previous space, curated by Natasha Jensen in conjunction with Sled Island Music Festival, that was forced to be cancelled in the wake of severe flooding in Calgary that affected both our space and the artists’ work.
Following this exhibition, we look forward to syncing our programming schedule with that of Untitled Art Society’s Satellite Gallery, who occupy the main floor at 343 11th Avenue SW. Through joint openings and a shared building, our organizations hope to develop a relationship that creates opportunities for collaboration and growth.
Wet White Heat will feature collaborative installations by Kelly Smith & Gwen Morgan, Joleen Toner & Ashley Ohman, and Mohammad Rezaei & Alia Shahab. You are invited to join us Friday, August 16th at 8PM for the opening reception. Admission is free and open to the public. Artists in attendance.
