The Robert McLaughlin Gallery announces fourth annual RMG EXPOSED Juried Photography Competition
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Oshawa, August 20th, 2013
The Robert McLaughlin Gallery’s annual Juried Photography Competition returns and the gallery is seeking photographers to participate.
RMG Exposed is an opportunity for emerging and national photographers to gain recognition for their work as well as have a chance to win prizes. The competition is open to photographers of all ages and career levels.
RMG Exposed raises awareness about both the gallery and contemporary photography. Each year, the RMG receives hundreds of entries from local and national photographers with the jury eventually selecting works to be sold in both live and silent auctions. Selected photographers are invited to attend the event in recognition of their support of educational and community programming through the donation of a print of their work.
Gabrielle Peacock, CEO of the RMG said, “This event builds recognition of contemporary photography in Oshawa while bringing together collectors, businesses, RMG supporters, and photographers to help raise funds that make art accessible in our community.”
Prizes include the RBC Emerging Photographer award for best overall submission, which has a prize of a Spring 2014 Solo Exhibition project at the RMG including a $2000 artists’ fee. Other prizes include cash awards of up to $400 in various categories such as Landscape, Conceptual and Student. New for 2013 is the award for Canadian Content. Photographers can submit up to three images.
Interested photographers should submit their work online at www.rmgexposed.com before Sunday September 22nd at midnight.
The auction event is to be held on Saturday November 8th, 2013 and tickets are $75. The purchase includes food and drink, live entertainment, and a $25 credit towards an auction bid. Tickets are also available at www.rmgexposed.com or at the RMG.
