Between Conversations offers a glimpse into the many levels of dialogue between artists, artwork, curator, and the artistic and curatorial processes. New works by 20 Singaporean artists in a broad range of media – from painting and sculpture to jewellery as contemporary art – will be engaged in an exchange around themes and issues salient in Singapore’s collective sociopolitical life today, such as national identities, population pressures and immigration, and gender roles.
At the heart of this exhibition is an appreciation for the reciprocal, collaborative nature of conversation. Beginning on 6 August 2013, Yavuz Fine Art will serve as an Open Studio for the artists and curator, allowing them to use the space for dialogue, meetings and informal discussions, and testing out collaborative ideas. This will continue through the month, until the exhibition opens on 30 August 2013.
Participating Artists: Chloe Cheng, Cecily Cheo, Cheo Chai Hiang, Heleston Chew, Ching Chor Leng, Mithun Jayaram, Leroy Sofyan John, Kim Whye Kee, Kng Min Tze, Stellah Lim, Jennifer Ng, Alan Oei, Simon Pan, Ezzam Rahman, Regina de Rozario, Vincent Twardzik Ching, Wong Lip Chin, Mark Wong, Green Zeng and Robert Zhao.
The opening reception in the presence of the artists will be held on Friday, 30 August 2013, 6-9pm at Yavuz Fine Art, Singapore.
