|p|m Gallery is pleased to present William Griffiths sixth solo exhibition:
The Objects of My Expression.
"Griffiths finds inspiration for his paintings in the post-industrial urbanscape of Niagara Falls, Ontario. He seeks out intriguing surfaces: the faded graffiti tag scrawled across chipped paint on the side of an old railway car; a rusted fence of corrugated steel; painted and weathered boards covering a shop front; garbage lying around abandoned yards in his neighbourhood. The ubiquity of these sights means they are often overlooked, but, in the eyes of Griffiths, they become visual phenomena, fertile subject matter for his photography and fodder for his painting. His careful selection of imagery records order and symmetry amid the chaos of the city, moments of stillness within the constant flux and beauty found in the unlikeliest places."
